Pruning

In the work of the vine, pruning plays an essential role.
This step takes place from when the leaves start to fall and finishes in general at the end of March.
There exists different types of pruning which are adapted more or less to the vines.
In many cases the pruning of the Chardonnay is in the style of Chablis and the Pinot noir in the style of Cordon De Royat

Tying up

After the pruning, we tie the wood to the middle wire to give direction to the vine.
This operation takes place from February to April .

Removing the buds

The removal of young growth is recommended for maximising fruit growth.

Sometimes it can be necessary to remove some of the fruits .

Connecting

This work starts during the time the vine grows the most rapidly.
To master this growth we place the wood between the wires to give the vine the image of a hedge.
"Le pallissage" is the placing of staples after completing "the lifting" process.

Le rognage / Ecimage

Trimming takes place from July to the harvest and is necessary in order to cut away the extra foilage allowing maximum sunlight to reach the grape.

This work  done with a special tractor : the "ecimage" suppresses the top growth and the "rognage" removes the extra leaves on both sides at the same time.

Last year we acquired a double "rogneuse" which allows us to do 2 rows at a time.

Les vendanges

harvest is done manually and generaly begins mid-September and last for about ten days.

A team of thirty people assembles each year.

To ease the work of the harvesters, the leaves are removed making the grape as visible as possible

The harvesters work in pairs, one on each side of the row.

They empty their baskets into containers which are later collected by our tractor.
